Writing For Joy: Why Creating For Yourself Is The Ultimate Reward

I’ve been reflecting on why I write this blog every week. It’s not for fame, fortune, or a flood of followers. In fact, after more than five years of posting, my audience is small and the comments are few. But I keep going—because writing brings me joy.
There’s something deeply satisfying about capturing my thoughts, pairing them with the perfect photo or tagline, and seeing the finished product come together. It’s a creative ritual that grounds me, helps me process what’s happening in my world, and brings clarity when life feels messy.
When I’m wrestling with a decision, feeling the sting of someone’s unkindness, or just trying to make sense of my emotions, writing is my way through. Over the years, this practice has helped me grow, become wiser, and align more closely with my purpose.
I’ve learned that the true value of creating isn’t in the likes or external validation—it’s in the act itself. When you create for the love of it, you give yourself permission to explore, to heal, and to celebrate your own journey. That’s a reward worth showing up for, week after week.

Try this ONE thing
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just need a little clarity, try writing for yourself. Don’t worry about who will read it or what they’ll think. Write for the joy of it, and see what unfolds.
