Becoming Older At Work Doesn’t Mean Becoming Irrelevant

At some point, I noticed a quiet shift. I was no longer the youngest person on the team. No announcement. No milestone. Just a realization.
There are moments when it can feel like experience is overlooked, or that visibility fades a little with time.
But I’m still here. Still engaged. Still offering what I’ve learned and still finding ways to contribute that feel meaningful.
Chris Conley refers to this stage as PAPR — Post Ambition, Pre‑Retirement. It doesn’t mean ambition is gone. It simply means it’s changed. Less focused on titles or the next rung on the ladder, and more focused on usefulness, impact, and purpose.
I’ve worked hard to reach where I am. Now I’m motivated by making a difference — in ways that matter to me and to others.
I’m not irrelevant. I’m not invisible. I’m just different.

Try this ONE thing
Take a moment to reflect on what ambition looks like for you today.
How has your perspective on ambition evolved over the years?
