The Moment Self-Doubt Returned—And Didn’t Stay

I had a moment recently that caught me off guard. An old feeling surfaced—one I was sure I’d already healed. That familiar flicker of self‑doubt.

My first reaction was frustration. Why is this back? Didn’t I already deal with this?

But then I noticed something important. I didn’t spiral. I didn’t collapse into old stories. I didn’t question everything. The doubt showed up—but it didn’t take control. Brianna Wiest writes that healing doesn’t mean never feeling the old thing again; it means meeting it with a different response. That landed for me in a new way.

Years ago, this moment would have pulled me under. This time, it passed quietly—because I knew how to hold myself through it.

And that’s when I realized: this wasn’t a relapse. It was evidence. Evidence that I’ve grown. Evidence that the work stayed with me. Evidence that healing isn’t about never revisiting the past—it’s about not living there anymore.

Try this ONE thing

When an old doubt resurfaces, don’t ask, ‘why am I still dealing with this?’.  Ask instead, ‘how am I responding differently now?’.

That answer tells the real story.
