The Best Thing To Do When You Get Discouraged About Your Goal

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that you haven’t yet achieved your goal because at some point you got discouraged and you either gave up or put it on the back burner and forgot about it.

How do you typically respond to setbacks, roadblocks, and other forms of discouragement? If you’re like most people, you’re already busy juggling a lot of things so it’s very easy to just let that goal go, to let it become a ‘someday’ goal, as in ‘someday I’ll ________________’. And you know what happens? ‘someday’ never comes.

If you read my blog last week, you know that setbacks and roadblocks are going to happen. Ask anyone who’s ever accomplished anything; they’ll tell you it wasn’t all smooth sailing.

It’s okay to get discouraged, that’s expected. It’s not okay to abandon all hope.

Try this ONE thing

Have you done that? Are you doing that now? Spend a few minutes now or sometime today to think about what that cost you. I bet you still have regrets. I bet you feel disappointed in yourself, no matter how much you try to stuff it down. I’m betting giving up on that dream still haunts you.

Don’t let that happen this time! Realize that discouragement is part of the journey and resolve to acknowledge when it happens and cut yourself some slack. All is not lost and tomorrow’s another day. Put your goal aside for a small space of time, wallow a little bit if you need to, and then pick back up again when you feel better. You will. Throughout the month, I’ll be offering you tips to keep you enthused and working towards that goal. At the end of the month, you’ll be able to download my FREE guide My #5 Secret Success Tip: Prepare To Overcome Blocks.
