Scoring A Moral Victory Over a Body-Shamer

As I’ve shared, I hired a pair of matchmakers to help me find my person. So far it seems very promising.
Except for ‘Joey’. He seemed like a nice guy and the texts, and our first conversation ran smoothly enough. And then he commented that I am a ‘full-figured’ woman, but not to worry because he’s dated women like me and he’s okay with it. Um, thank you?
He’s basing this on my photos on the dating site. Now, I am actually quite fond of these photos; they perfectly capture my smile, my energy, my sparkle, my style…none of which he seemed to notice.
No thank you!
Could I stand to lose a few pounds? Yes. Will I? Maybe I will, but, If I choose to do it, it'll be for my own reasons—not to satisfy anyone else's expectations…least of all some body-shaming man.
This is the kind of comment that would have had me spiraling down in a sea of insecurity in the past. Not this time! I know I have too much to offer to allow myself to be judged solely on my body type. I have a stable sense of myself so I know the problem is his.
Yay for me for not wasting precious mortal minutes on the bad behaviour of one man.
From the poem I quoted two weeks ago by Patricia Lynn Reilly, ‘Imagine a woman in love with her own body. A woman who believes her body is enough, just as it is.’. Amen sister!

Try this ONE thing
Remember that you are enough, just as you are. Let so of anyone who doesn’t agree.
Want to experience coaching? I like to start with a deep, get-to-know-you conversation to see if we are right for each other. Sometimes we talk for one or two hours at no charge. I have no goal except to bring about transformation. Together we work on the lies, the self-deception, the fears of the power you perceive to be outside yourself. We work on your on your difficulties in making decisions and your inability thus far to make bold choices in life and to follow through and trust yourself completely to do so.
The irony for some people is that the very thing that they want the coaching for (an indecisive, half-hearted life) is what’s keeping them from deciding whether to get coaching.
