Feeling Down, Look For What Is Going Well In This Moment

It’s easy to get discouraged what with everything wrong in the world these days. It’s easy to see unkindness, stress, economic worry, hatred rising; it comes to us every minute on our phones.
No one would blame us for feeling down. How could we be anything but?
Except that there is another way to look at it. To see all that’s wrong but see something else too.
Amid all the trouble, we could shift our question to asking what is going well in this moment. What’s working, what is there to be happy about, what can I get excited about.
Admittedly, this takes some effort, to deliberately shift our gaze to something positive, hopeful, encouraging.
In my life, as I’m meeting different men in my matchmaking quest, it would be very easy to focus on the few bad actors and share those stories. I’d get a few laughs and some commiserating head nods, but it won’t make me feel better. A much better choice would be for me to focus on the nice men, the men who do call, the men who make dates and show up. That feels so much better.

Try this ONE thing
Ask yourself a different question and you’ll get a different answer. Deliberately look for the good and you’ll find it.
If you find it hard at first, start by petting the dog.
Want to experience coaching? I like to start with a deep, get-to-know-you conversation to see if we are right for each other. Sometimes we talk for one or two hours at no charge. I have no goal except to bring about transformation. Together we work on the lies, the self-deception, the fears of the power you perceive to be outside yourself. We work on your on your difficulties in making decisions and your inability thus far to make bold choices in life and to follow through and trust yourself completely to do so.
The irony for some people is that the very thing that they want the coaching for (an indecisive, half-hearted life) is what’s keeping them from deciding whether to get coaching.
