I’ve been languishing a bit these days. I’ve been dreading Mondays of late.
Almost immediately I assume there’s something wrong in my life, and that makes me feel bad. And then I start thinking I need to formulate a plan to ‘fix’ whatever is wrong. And then I feel worse because maybe I haven’t really figured out this thing called life and perhaps my happiness is just an illusion. And just like that, I’m in a downward spiral.
Whoa! Slow down there!
All is not lost. What if experiencing negative emotions is just a natural part of life, of being human? As John Denver said, ‘some days are diamonds, some days are stones’.
Maybe there’s not cause for alarm, no need to panic. Maybe I can just lean into the blah feeling for a bit, knowing it will subside. And just like that, I’ve halted the downward spiral.
Try this ONE thing
Do you need to just lean into a feeling for just a bit? Perhaps the feeling doesn’t require action, just a gentle acceptance that it’s here and it will pass.
Hey! Are you already successful and accomplished? Do you have many things to appreciate about your life right now? Are you always open to learning more and growing yourself?
Despite all your successes, do you sometimes doubt yourself? Do you hesitate to go after what you really want in life?
Or maybe you dismiss your past successes, putting them down to luck, and don’t really see how extraordinary you really are?
If this sounds like you, you and I should have a conversation. Drop me a line here, karen.laidlaw.theONEthing@outlook.com, and let’s talk!
