Do You Ever Wonder Why You Don't Do Something You Enjoy More Often?

I went to a spa this weekend with my daughter. We both had deep tissue massages. It felt wonderful and I realized I hadn’t had a massage for about two years. It was so enjoyable, I found myself wondering why I don’t do this more often.

I love everything about the Hockley Valley Spa – the hotel, the beautiful scent that greets me, the lounge, the view of the ski hill and the pool, the fireplace and of course the actual massage. And the drive there is peaceful, serene and pretty.

So why don’t I treat myself more often?

I couldn’t come up with a single reason, except maybe that I am so used to focusing on duty and obligation, that I forget that it’s okay to treat myself. It’s okay to not be productive every minute of every day. I guess old habits die hard. I’ve been working for so long and being a single parent certainly forced me to work hard, but maybe, just maybe, this next stage of life can be about treating myself more.

So, I booked myself the next massage and even planned a mini-vacation once the warm weather gets here so I can enjoy my massage and a couple of days of sitting by the pool.

Try this ONE thing

Is there something you really enjoy that you’re not doing often enough? Pull out your calendar and pencil it in.

Want to experience coaching? I like to start with a deep, get-to-know-you conversation to see if we are right for each other. Sometimes we talk for one or two hours at no charge. I have no goal except to bring about transformation. Together we work on the lies, the self-deception, the fears of the power you perceive to be outside yourself. We work on your difficulties in making decisions and your inability thus far to make bold choices in life and to follow through and trust yourself completely to do so.

The irony for some people is that the very thing that they want the coaching for (an indecisive, half-hearted life) is what’s keeping them from deciding whether to get coaching.
