AI Isn't Replacing My Thinking - It's Making It Better

I’ve been thinking a lot about how grateful I am for AI. I use it at home and at work—not to think for me, but to sharpen my thinking and strengthen my writing.

I see AI as a thinking partner. For example, when I’m creating a training program, I might ask it to find a strong opening quote or help me turn my ideas into clear learning objectives—something I’ve always struggled with. I bring the purpose, parameters and point of view; AI helps me shape them faster and more effectively.

Sometimes I’m writing an email and want to sound warm but also clear and directive. The more context I give AI about my voice and intent, the more it helps me find wording that sounds like me—only sharper.

Other times, I just need a quick answer: How can I make this file small enough to send?

I’ve also used AI to prepare for courageous conversations. When a topic is emotional, I can wear my heart on my sleeve and lose the thread of what I want to say. AI helps me organize my thoughts into a clear, thoughtful message.

My favourite AI creation is the picture I use as my Zoom and Teams background. I didn’t write the sophisticated original prompt, but I made the result my own by adding tulips, a candle and Cooper, my dog.

That’s what I value about AI: it gives me support and a starting point, but I still bring the thinking, judgment and personality.

Try this ONE thing

Are you curious about AI but unsure where to begin? Start small. Give it one task today: sharpen an email, organize a messy idea or help you phrase a question.

Then tell me: What did AI help you do better?
