I’m a little tired lately. Lots of international travel and lots of interesting projects have left me with not enough time to restore myself. That’s coming this week when I do a ‘bucket list’ thing, which is seeing James Taylor at Red Rocks with my former manager and frequent source of inspiration.
Often when I’m tired, I can act from desperation. I’m tired so the cognitive load on my brain is overtaxed. In this state, things are not always what they seem, causing me to tell myself stories that simply aren’t true. If I don’t catch myself, I can easily blow things up that don’t need to be blown up.
Thankfully I am getting better at spotting this, so I can step away, from the keyboard, from my phone, from the conversation before I do something I regret.
A good night’s sleep or getting out in nature is a much better choice. And if that doesn’t work, I wait. I wait until things look more like they really are.
Try this ONE thing
Allow yourself the space and the grace to pause and wait til things look clearer, and better.
Want to experience coaching? I like to start with a deep, get-to-know-you conversation to see if we are right for each other. Sometimes we talk for one or two hours at no charge. I have no goal except to bring about transformation. Together we work on the lies, the self-deception, and the fears of the power you perceive to be outside yourself. We work on your difficulties in making decisions and your inability thus far to make bold choices in life and to follow through and trust yourself completely to do so.
The irony for some people is that the very thing that they want the coaching for (an indecisive, half-hearted life) is what’s keeping them from deciding whether to get coaching.
